Helen Boyd: Photographer, Wanderess & Abstract Painter
I live and work in Penrith, the English Lake District with my husband and cocker spaniels Rosie & Summer. Desk-bound on weekdays I love to get outdoors and walk in the Lakes on the weekends and quiet summer evenings, I am especially fond of wandering during the golden hour and dusk.
My passions are the Creative Arts; Photography, Abstract painting, Growing dinner plate Dahlias, roses and my own organic veggies, Poetry, Playing acoustic guitar and Yoga.
Always very observant and naturally curious from a young age, I love to photograph my natural environment. I especially love gentle landscapes, seascapes and simpler minimalist shots and I adore double exposures.
I have been making photographs for many years but have taken my photography more seriously in the last fifteen years. I am also drawn as an abstract painter, to the more creative areas of photography. I am currently shooting lots of 'out of focus' images and ICM Intentional camera movement. I love abstract images and photographs with a cinematic feel.
I love shooting with my Fujifilm x100f and Fujifilm XT2. I also have a 1977 Hasselblad 500c/m and a Nikon FM2n and I enjoy shooting with medium format and 35mm film.
My best accolade to date was winning the Northern Counties Photographic Federation NCPF – 2012 for my B&W image of the Borrowdale fells and a couple of double feature images in the June 2017 edition of Oh Comely Magazine.
